Uzbekistan HUMO Teams With Alipay+ for Cross-Border QR Payments in 50+ Countries

Uzbekistan's national payment system HUMO has partnered with Alipay+, Ant International's global wallet gateway, to enable seamless cross-border QR payments between Uzbekistan and over 50 countries, including China, Kazakhstan, Thailand, UAE, and the United States. The Octomobile app by Octobank will be the first Uzbek e-wallet integrated with Alipay+, with more HUMO-connected wallets and banking apps expected to join by the end of 2025. This collaboration allows HUMO users to pay in Uzbek som through their preferred local payment methods during international travel, enhancing convenience for consumers and business opportunities for Uzbek merchants by facilitating acceptance of payments from Alipay+'s extensive global user base. HUMO becomes the tenth national QR code network to join Alipay+, which currently partners with 40 e-wallets and 10 national QR payment systems, connecting over 100 million merchants to 1.8 billion consumer accounts worldwide. Officials from both HUMO and Alipay+ highlighted the partnership's potential to boost Uzbekistan's tourism economy and digital payment ecosystem integration into the global market. Additionally, Alipay+ continues to enhance payment security with AI-powered systems reducing fraud risk by up to 90%, while industry experts note Uzbekistan's significant potential for digital payment growth.
