Chicago Man Charged with Double Homicide in Gage Park
Robert Romo, a 57-year-old man from the Clearing neighborhood, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder following a violent incident in Gage Park, Chicago, on March 23. Romo is accused of fatally stabbing his brother, Richard Romo, 63, and his partner, Rita Chavez, 64, in their apartment before attacking a 44-year-old woman at a nearby tavern, Just One More Sports Bar. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office ruled the deaths as homicides due to multiple gunshot wounds and stab injuries. Following the assaults, police subdued Romo with a Taser as he brandished a knife and a malfunctioning gun. He faces multiple charges, including attempted murder and aggravated battery, and is currently detained awaiting further court proceedings. Family members indicate a dispute may have triggered the violent events.
