Two Teens Killed in New Bedford Crash

A single-vehicle crash on Route 140 South at mile marker 2.1 in New Bedford around 2 a.m. on Nov. 1 involved a 2019 Honda Civic that left the roadway with heavy passenger-side damage. Four people were in the car; two teenagers — a 17-year-old male from West Yarmouth and a 15-year-old female — were killed (one pronounced dead at the scene and a second after being taken to a hospital) and the driver, an 18-year-old male from Dartmouth, and a fourth occupant were injured, with the driver reported to have non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators from the Massachusetts State Police Crash Analysis Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services, the Bristol County detective unit, and the Bristol County district attorney's office responded and are probing the cause. The roadway was closed for the investigation and reopened to normal traffic shortly after 5 a.m., with traffic reported moving in the breakdown lane during parts of the probe. Authorities have not released the victims’ names, and some early video showed other vehicles near the scene as officials continue to gather information.
