Maj. Gen. David Zini Assumes Shin Bet Chief Role Amid Controversy

Maj. Gen. (res.) David Zini has officially assumed his role as the head of Israel's internal security agency, the Shin Bet, after being nominated by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and approved by the cabinet. Zini's appointment follows the controversial ouster of former chief Ronen Bar, who was dismissed due to a loss of confidence in his leadership after the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.
