Jared Hedges, Colorado Ski Coach, Charged with Sexual Assault of Minor

Jared Hedges, a 48-year-old coach for Team Summit Colorado, was arrested on March 21 in Taos, New Mexico, and faces felony charges of criminal sexual penetration of a minor and criminal sexual contact after allegedly assaulting a 9-year-old boy during a ski trip. Following the incident, Team Summit terminated Hedges and reported the allegations to the U.S. Center for SafeSport, which has suspended him from coaching. The child's attorney expressed concerns that there may be additional victims, citing Hedges's long history in a position that involved managing travel and accommodations for young athletes. Multiple sources confirm that the assault occurred while the boy and other children were sleeping in a cabin, and he immediately reported the incident to his parents. Team Summit's executive director emphasized the organization's commitment to athlete safety and cooperation with law enforcement in the ongoing investigation. Hedges has not publicly commented on the charges.
