Marginalized Students Face Extreme Heat in US Schools

A recent study highlights that extreme heat disproportionately affects marginalized students in U.S. public schools, with Hispanic/Latino, Native American/Alaska Native, Hawaiian/other Pacific Islander students, and those eligible for free or reduced-price lunch more likely to attend schools experiencing the highest number of extreme heat days. This disparity is concerning as rising global temperatures cause heat waves to become more frequent and intense, potentially impacting learning conditions.
