Man Arrested After Racially Aggravated Walsall Rape

A woman in her 20s of Indian/Punjabi origin was raped in the Park Hall area of Walsall on Saturday night in an attack West Midlands Police are treating as racially aggravated. Police released CCTV and described the suspect as a white man in his 30s with short or thinning hair wearing dark clothing, and launched an urgent appeal for CCTV, dashcam and witness information. A 32-year-old man was arrested early on Monday in the Perry Barr area and remains in custody while detectives from the Public Protection Unit question him and recover evidence. Specialist officers are supporting the survivor, police have increased patrols, and investigators said they are following multiple lines of enquiry but are not formally linking the case to a similar racially aggravated rape in nearby Oldbury last month.
