CN, CSX Plan New Intermodal Service Linking Vancouver, Nashville
Canadian National Railway (CN) and CSX Corporation have announced plans to develop a new interline intermodal service that will provide all-rail transport for international containers from Canada’s West Coast directly to Nashville, Tennessee. This service replaces the current trucking segment between Memphis and Nashville with a steel-wheel rail interchange, offering a faster, more reliable, and sustainable alternative that reduces truck traffic on highways. The collaboration builds on the companies’ existing partnership since 2019, which links East Coast ports to Toronto and Montreal. CN’s interim chief commercial officer, Janet Drysdale, emphasized the benefits of expanded market reach and improved supply chain efficiency, while CSX's chief commercial officer, Kevin Boone, highlighted the service's role in strengthening shippers' supply chains. CN, a major player in North American rail transport with significant revenue from intermodal containers, sees this development as part of its ongoing growth and commitment to sustainability. The new service is expected to enhance logistics options for customers and communities by driving growth, reliability, and environmental benefits.
