Medical professionals, particularly therapeutic radiographers, have raised concerns about patients filming their NHS medical treatments for social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram. The Society of Radiographers (SoR) highlighted that this trend is causing anxiety among healthcare staff, distracting them and potentially compromising the delivery of care. Instances include patients covertly recording staff without permission, exposing staff identities through visible name badges, and inadvertently capturing sensitive medical information of other patients. The SoR is calling for clear NHS policies to prevent unauthorized filming of clinical procedures to protect both patient confidentiality and staff well-being. While some patients record consultations for personal reference, the rise in filming entire treatments raises ethical and safety issues. Urging patients not to film consultations and treatments publicly helps safeguard privacy and allows healthcare professionals to perform their duties effectively.
